Bright Light Therapy

This type of therapy, also known as full spectrum lighting, can be used to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), otherwise known as winter or seasonal depression. Bright Light Therapy also helps sleep disorders, jet lag, or give individuals with tenancies towards the blues a "lift" when there is a lack of sunlight on rainy, gray days. People are spending more time indoors and not getting enough sunlight from outside. To achieve natural balanced sunlight indoors, light bulbs need to contain a full spectrum of color as well as infared and ultraviolet wavelengths. These requirements are absent from regular cool white fluorescent bulbs which lack proper intensity. The intensity is measured in LUX. Our Bright Light Therapy consists of sitting under the Sun-A-Lux® Combo Light which utilizes special bulbs producing a much stronger LUX than regular indoor lighting. Indoor lighting varies between 100 and 300 LUX, while natural daylight on a clear spring morning is around 10,000 LUX and at noon at the height of summer, over 100,000 LUX. Bright Light Therapy requires a minimum of 2,500 LUX to be effective, with the recommended amount by researchers for most people being 10,000 LUX.

Due to the patent-pending Sun-A-Lux® Blue-Lux™ bulbs, which incorporate blue light as well as white light, what used to take one to two hours now can be accomplished in 15 to 30 minute sessions. Success can come in days rather than weeks!

Appropriate and safe light boxes include a diffuser which filters out harmful UV-A and UV-B rays. Our Sun-A-Lux® boxes accomplish this safely and effectively and contain the essential ingredients to help you receive balanced sunlight. We also provide an iJoy® Turbo 2 Robotic Massage chair with Human Touch Technology® to comfort and heal you during your Bright Light Therapy.
